Meet Ray Rojas, our club's newest member.  Ray has over 26 years experience with Head Start, a federal program which provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition and parent involvement services to low income children and their families.  Ray holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from National University and is considered an expert in the use of data analysis and assessment of management systems for Head Start.  Ray is a Head Start National Trainer covering the specialty topics of Dual Language, Positive Discipline and Family Development.  He is also an Adjunct Professor of Child Development, San Diego Community College District.

Ray hails from  Fabens, Texas originally.but spent the majority of his growing up years in Bakersfield, CA.   Ray joined the Navy at age18 and served six years as a dispersing clerk (paymaster).  By the time his enlistment was up, Ray had achieved the rate of Petty Officer First Class (E-6).  Ray and his wife have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. These days, the family lives in Logan Heights with the one child left at home.  In his spare time, Ray may be found reading or playing/watching soccer.

Our club's board of directors has authorized an expenditure of $400 to support specific Head Start grandparents who are raising grandchildren during this upcoming Christmas season.  Ray will be getting off to a fast start in Kiwanis by implementing this benevolent initiative at Christmastime on behalf of our club..

Welcome aboard, Ray.  Now, let's get to work.
